Bricknell Brewery – Green Hop Bitter (4.6% ABV)

Hello my fellow beer lovers

Welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimist, Today we are beginning to sample the beers produced in our home city Hull, by the microbrewer Bricknell Brewery. If you somehow missed our insightful interview with the head brewer you can check that out here.

We are kicking off the Bricknell collection by looking at their Green Hop Bitter, this review was produced by Peter following his visit with John to the Bricknell Brewery.

  1. Name : Green Hop Bitter
  2. Brewery: Bricknell Brewery
  3. Aroma : Feint smell of wet, cut grass
  4. Appearance : Clear, amber, good head with a slight green tinge
  5. Body :  Full bodied with excellent head retention
  6. Taste : Dryish with a nice balance of malt and hops

A solid example of a best bitter. Stronger than a standard bitter and subtly hopped so ideal if you fancy a few.

What makes this individual beer a bit special is that it is brewed using hops that have been grown on the brewing property in Hull. We normally associate British grown hops with Kent so it came as a surprise that they can be grown this far North.

our overall rating: 3.9/ 5.0
