Hello my fellow beer lovers
Welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimist, Today we are beginning to sample the beers produced in our home city Hull, by the microbrewer Bricknell Brewery. If you somehow missed our insightful interview with the head brewer you can check that out here.

Today Peter is reviewing another bottle of conditioned beer from the Bricknell Brewery micro-brewery in Hull. They produce a number of pale ales and this is the stronger version of their Anchor Pale Ale.
The name of this beer is a tip of the hat to the history of brewing in Hull. The original Hull Brewery, Anchor Brewery was built in 1868 and operated until 1887. There still are odd traces of the Anchor Brewery around the City, the photograph is of tile work from outside The Dairycoates Inn.

Name : Double Anchor IPA
Brewery: Bricknell Brewery
Aroma : Fruity, with a faint aroma of hops
Appearance : Dark amber, almost copper in colour with a cream coloured head
Body : Well bodied with good head retention
Taste : Very dry and bitter edging towards tart
The extra alcohol (1.4%) and heavier hopping producing the necessary umph to make it a true traditional IPA and an enjoyable drink.
our overall rating: 3.8/ 5.0
