Hello my fellow beer lovers
Welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimist, Today we are beginning to sample the beers produced in our home city Hull, by the microbrewer Bricknell Brewery. If you somehow missed our insightful interview with the head brewer you can check that out here.
Today Peter is reviewing another bottle of conditioned beer from the Bricknell Brewery micro-brewery in Hull. This time it’s a vanilla porter which has pure vanilla extract just before bottling
Again the beer is named after something local, this time a closed railway station which still remains and is a well-known local landmark.

- Name : Stepney Porter
- Brewery: Bricknell Brewery
- Aroma : Hints of vanilla and hops
- Appearance : Black, very dark when held to the light with a reddish brown head
- Body : Full bodied with head retention
- Taste : The vanilla flavour comes through strongly with a slight taste of dark chocolate in the background
Another excellent dark beer from this micro-brewery, definitely a bottle to look out for.
Our overall rating: 4.0/ 5.0
