Atom Brewing Co – Catalyst, American Pale Ale (5.4% ABV)

Hi there fellow beer lovers,

Today we are taking a look at another Hull-based brewery today with an American Pale Ale from Atom Brewing Co. 

The brewery was founded in 2014 by people with a scientific background. Atom’s strapline is ‘The Science of Brewing’ and catalysts are substances that speed up the rate of a chemical reaction but are not consumed by it.

3. Aroma : Citrussy with grapefruit notes
4. Appearance : Pale gold, hazy rather than cloudy but virtually no head 
5. Body :  Medium bodied, reasonably carbonated but with poor head retention 
6. Taste :  Dry but not excessively so with tropical fruit falvours 

This beer was slightly disappointing as it poured without really forming a head, perhaps the garage was too cold and bottles and cans should be allowed a little time at room temperature before pouring. Taste-wise it was pretty much as one might expect, fruity with a good level of hoppy-ness and quite session-able even at 5.4%
