Hello my fellow beer lovers
Welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimist. Today, are having a look at a newer brewery that has opened right on Sam’s doorstop in Horsforth, I am of course talking about Tartarus beers, who from looking at their selection are certainly not afraid to create beers that pack a punch!
We are hoping to do a little interview, and further coverage of their wares in the new year but given that it is still the season, we decided to have a look at their Christmas Cake Impy Porter, Krampus 2021!.

- Name : Krampus 2021
- Brewery: Tartarus Beers
- Aroma : Strong scent of spiced fruits, brandy and treacle
- Appearance : Black as night, no head
- Body : Full bodied so much so it hugged the glass, a little low on the carbonation, rich velvety texture that warmed the mouth feel.
- Taste : Boozy Christmas Cake, that certainly doesnt lack a kick. The richness builds as you drink it, and the spiced fruits warm your mouth and cockles as you go.
Not a bad introduction to Taratus, if this is what they have to offer I am really looking forward to seeing what else they have in store. Full-bodied, flavourful, and has a punch that Terence Crawford would be proud of, everything we look for in a dark beer.
The only issue is the 12.2% because it’s so high, I wouldn’t be drinking many of these before I’d go home with the Krampus! So make sure you drink responsibly and stay safe this Christmas / New Year season!
Hopefully, we will be revisiting Tartarus in the New Year until then keep your eyes peeled, and make sure you check out our ongoing 12 beers of Christmas, courtesy of Turning Point Brew Co.
