Turning Point x Leeds Brewdog – Wee Rudy, toffee wee heavy (7.2% ABV)

Hi there fellow beer lovers,

We are continuing through on our 12 days of Christmas selection from Turning point Brew Co, this time we are trying a type of beer that none of us have ever had before a Toffee Wee Heavy.

Name: Wee Rudy, toffee wee heavy
Brewery: Turning Point Brew Co
Aroma: Strong smell of Treacle, with slight notes of tar and molasses.
Appearance: Muddy brown in colour with a slightly off white tight head.
Body:
medium-bodied, well carbonated, but with poor head retention and a really smooth mouthfeel.
Taste
: Heavy and rich taste of traditional Christmas treacle pudding, which is then cut through sharply by a kick of alcohol creating a warmth in the pit of your belly before mellowing into an almost smokey burnt caramel finish.

This is a true winter warmer beer, it is the kind of beer that sticks to your ribs, is full of flavour and leaves a little tingle in the back of your throat.

This is the first time we have had a ‘Wee Heavy‘, and hopefully, it will not be the last! I think we had the can a little too cold, as it was quite flat but that didn’t take anything away from the full-on flavour that this one was packing. A very nice flavourful and different pint for a post christmas eve.

Our overall rating: 3.6 / 5.0
