Hi there fellow beer lovers,
This was one of the beers we picked up when we visited Beath Brewing after watching the mighty Blue Brazil (Cowdenbeath FC) win for only the second time in the season. It is one of two current beers brewed specially to support the club. The name comes from the Club Captain’s nickname which is of course Mango.
This is brewed with a mixture of different malts, wheat, oats and flaked barley with added mango puree and hopped with Citra and Galaxy hops.

- Name : The Captain’s Tipple
- Brewery: Beath Brewing
- Aroma : Mango and something sweet and floral, possibly from the hops.
- Appearance : Straw coloured, not exactly hazy but more a case of particles in suspension (presumably from the mango puree) head was white but only lasted briefly
- Body : Full bodied with reasonable level of carbonation but little head retention
- Taste : Mango, slightly sweet to begin but with a slightly tart finish. Quite refreshing
This was a bit of a surprise; I was expecting an opaque beer with a vibrant orange hue and a heavy fruity flavour. Instead, it’s a traditional pale ale with subtle mango flavouring rather than an alcoholic fruit juice. A pleasant easy drinking beer that is probably better appreciated in the summer months.
Our overall rating: 3.5/ 5.0
