Hawkshead – Red (4.2% ABV)

Hi there fellow beer lovers,

It’s great that specialist craft bottle shops are springing up and supplying us with great beers to try, but also keep your eyes peeled in the discount stores too. Today’s beer a rich malty red ale was spotted in Home Bargains for £1.39 and so was worth investigating. This beer unfortunately is not bottle conditioned.

1. Name : Red
2. Brewery: Hawkshead Brewery
3. Aroma : Slightly sweet and malty
4. Appearance : Reddish brown with a cream coloured head
5. Body :  Full bodied with good carbonation and fair head retention
6. Taste : Malty and sweet with little bitterness at the finish

An uncomplicated but faithful version of a red ale which is both great tasting and easy drinking. Definitely a beer to base a session on.
