Welcome back to The Eternal Hoptimist’s, where we try beers that wont put you in arrears. Today we are taking a look at this cheeky Porter from Beak Brewery.
I was fortunate enough to have this one donated to me as part of a Christmas box, but lets see if it brought me some belated holiday cheer.
- Name: Pencil Porter
- Brewery: Beak Brewing
- Aroma : Strong scent of freshly brewed coffee, followed by some smoky woody notes.
- Appearance : Black as night, with a slightly off white head.
- Body : Heavy bodied, well carbonated and pretty good head retention.
- Taste : Strong molasses tones, followed by a roasted coffee draw.
Wowee… This was a belter, it was full of flavour, really cooling and incredibly satisfying. The Roasted coffee draw was particularly prominent in this one and it had me reaching back for more.. only issue was I only had one can!!
