Hello there my fellow beer lovers,
Last Saturday, I braved the sunny weather and set out on a journey to one of my local Micro Breweries as they were having an open day.
Wilde Child brewery, all started in 2010 from a home brew kit and has now turned into quite the established micro brewery, that has around 41 beers under its belt.

Now as much as I would love to say I tried all 41, I would by lying, and that’s not just because the wife would have killed me had I attempted and hopefully succeeded such a feat, but those I did have, I thoroughly enjoyed.
As John and Peter, are in Hull, I was all geared up to flying solo, when my friend Jordan swooped in like a hero to keep me company, whilst being ready and raring to drink copious amounts of beer.
Should you fancy visiting The Wilde Child Brewery yourself, their next open day is on the 26th June 2021, and they are located in Leeds at The Brewery, Unit 5, Armley Rd, Leeds, LS12 2DR. (doors usually open at 12 Noon and close around 8pm)
So what did they have to offer? Well on the day they had around 12 beers in a range of styles on tap from the heavier Brownie Huntress to the sour Key lime Cheesecake of their Flow Rider. They also had a multitude of cans on sale for £3 a pop, and a cracking BBQ & Grill food van, ran by the Modest Bro’s who had a veritable smorgasbord of goodies; from their exceptional dirty fires, and Korean Chicken to the Falafel for those who care about their figure.
But that’s enough about the food, were a beer blog, so lets talk about the beers that I tried on that sunny Saturday, definitely not people watching from the grass verge in full view of the sex shop next-door.

Name : The Expatriate (4.5% ABV)
Brewery: Wilde Child Brewing Co
Appearance : Hazed apricot orange colour with a tight white head
Aroma : strong notes of citrus and hops
Body : Medium bodied, well carbonated, smooth mouth feel great head retention
Taste : Ever so slightly dry on the tongue, give you that lovely hoppy tingle, whilst delivering quite a punch of citrus flavours. I liked this one so much I had 4 pints, cracking pint for a summer bbq. A bit towards the upper end for a session but you certainly can do it
Rating: 3.9/5

Name : California Love (4.2% ABV)
Brewery: Wilde Child Brewing Co
Appearance : Amber with a touch of haze, and a tight white head
Aroma : Hoppier scent than the expatriate, with subtle citrus notes, edging on the side of lime
Body : Medium bodied, well carbonated, good head retention
Taste : This one had a real bitter bite of hop, that makes your mouth water before mellowing into a wash citrus, with a slight tang.
Full disclosure, I only had this one because the expatriate was being changed, but it was a very good alternative and gave you a slightly different citrus backing.
Rating: 3.5/5

Name : Gimme S’More (5.3% ABV)
Brewery: Wilde Child Brewing Co
Appearance : Dark as night, thin film of a off white head
Aroma : Strong scents of Vanilla, and lightly toasted malt.
Body : Heavy bodied, well carbonated, no head retention, very smooth mouthfeel
Taste : Strong taste of sugary vanilla marshmallow goodness, that morphs into a toasted malted biscuit bonanza, very decadent.
I really liked this one to start with, but as I got further down the pint it got a little to sweet for me, so this one is definitely for those with a sweet tooth, I couldn’t drink multiple pints of this one, but as a finisher it was great!
Rating: 3.4/5
Would I go to another open day at Wilde Child Brewing Co?
Definitely…
I had a great day out, great beer, and I met some very nice like minded people there too. I’m hoping to get to the next one in June to get another Expatriate and maybe some different beers this time..
