Hi there fellow beer lovers,
Welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists, we are again looking at another dessert style stout. If this keeps up I may have to start to go to the gym more than once a week to keep myself drinking fit!

- Name: Blue Maple Stout
- Brewery: Saugatuck Brewing Co
- Aroma : Smokey, woodchip’s with a hint of coffee and a dollop of blueberry jam
- Appearance : Very dark, with a mocha coloured head
- Body : Medium bodied, low carbonation but with a poor head retention.
- Taste : Sweet blueberry jam, that mellows to a sticky sugary maple that allows the toasted coffee and malt to come through leading to a smoked bitter finish.
This one has a very complicated pallet, from sweet to bitter with a Smokey transition between the two, do I like it? Yes I do.
This is a sweet stout with a bold, unique twist. They have really managed to capture the essence of sweet freshly cooked pancakes in a can. I am glad I am wearing a checked shirt for this one, as now my rendition of “I’m a lumberjack” after another 3 of these will make it even more authentic!
Our overall rating: 3.7/ 5.0
