Hi there fellow beer lovers,
Back to another local brewery today, this one being created in my home city five years ago. They produce several bottle conditioned ales reflecting the locality including three aimed at the main professional sports clubs. This one is Red Robin aimed at Hull Kingston Rovers the rugby league team based in the East of the City. I thought a red ale or strong bitter might have been a more likely choice, but it is described as ruby chocolate stout. Then there is ‘Reet’ an amber ale naturally for Hull City the football club who play and black and amber. The third being ‘Faithful’ a stout for some other lot whose attempts at rugby league merely make a mess of the MKM pitch…

- Name : Red Robin
- Brewery: Yorkshire Brewhouse based in Hull, East Yorkshire
- Hops : Challenger
- Grain : Pale and chocolate malts
- Aroma : Malty with some chocolate but not bitter
- Appearance : Black and didn’t form much of a head
- Body : Medium bodied with good carbonation but with no head retention
- Taste : Chocolate but more bitter-sweet than dark chocolate. No smokiness often associated with stouts
An easy drinking chocolate stout. Some may think it a little bland and weak if used to drinking some of the more outlandish stouts and Imperials out there, but I think there’s a time and place to enjoy a stout like this.
