Northern Monk Brewing Co- Greener Heathen(4.20% ABV)

Hi there fellow beer lovers,

Welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists.

Today John is putting his brave face on, as he found out that this one was green, at it gave him flashbacks to sign of spring

  1. Name: Greener Heathen
  2. Brewery: Northern Monk Brewing Co.
  3. Aroma :  Citrus and herby/ medicinal ( due to the Citra, Strata & Mosaic Hops)
  4. Appearance :  Pale lime to pea green with a tight frothy white head when poured.
  5. Body : Light bodied, well carbonated but poor head retention, with quite a full mouth feel considering its light bodiedness.
  6. Taste : Earthy initial taste that blossoms to a green tea on the pallet which then fades to a sharp citrusy finish.

This is the second green beer that we have reviewed on the blog, the first of which was the first beer I think we ever reviewed, and I think it was one of the lowest rated ones we have done you can check that out here.

This one however, is considerably better! This Green pale ale gains its colour from an apparent Cannabis infusion, which supports its Whitty percentage of 4.20% (we see what you did there!). However, I must say this infusion other than the colour, was barely detectable on the pallet instead it gave birth to more of a herbal green tea flavour, at least that what I told the police officer 😉

Its certainly novel, but it didn’t blow me away, not my cup of tea, as I’m not a fan of herbal teas. But, if you are a herbal tea drinker, and you fancied a beer with a twist, this one could be good for you!

Our overall rating: 3.4/ 5.0
