Gwei-lo- Rainbow Sherbet Sour (4.5% ABV)

Hi there fellow beer lovers,

Welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists! Today, John trying another one of Hong Kong’s popular ‘Foreigner’ beers, brewed funnily enough by a bunch of Brits, this one in particular was brewed and canned in England though in a cheeky equipment share with Vocation Brewery.

  1. Name: Rainbow Sherbet Sour
  2. Brewery: Gwei-lo
  3. Aroma :  strong lemon scent, with a definite sweetness
  4. Appearance : Clear Pale Amber with a medium open white head
  5. Body :  Medium bodied, low carbonated but poor head retention
  6. Taste :  A citrusy lemon flavour with a sweet and sour mouth-watering finish.

This one would be great on a hot summers day, I was a little disappointed with the carbonation of this one but was overcome by a wash of nostalgia as the flavour was very reminiscent of Lemon Spangles (showing my age there). This is definitely an easy drinker, and Gweilo are definitely turning out some very good tipples so far! They clearly know what they are doing ‘Nostalgically re-defining’ indeed!

Our overall rating: 3.7/ 5.0
