Hello My fellow beer drinkers,
Welcome back to The Eternal Hoptimists! As you may know earlier this week we had a sit down chat with the lovely Emma & Olly from Merakai Brewing co and if you want to check out what they had to say in our meet the brewers interview here
This week we will be sampling a number of Merakai’s beers so do keep your eyes open over the coming week, our second review is by the Sour King himself (John) as he get a chance to try this one in a tinny, but will it be as good as the draught?

- Name : Life is Mangonificent
- Brewery: Merakai Brewing Co, East Sussex
- Hops : Lemondrop
- Grain : Malted Barley, Oats
- Aroma : Strong notes of Passionfruit and Mango with a subtle tickle of Marshmellow
- Appearance : Opaque dark passionfruit with a thin film of head
- Body : Full Bodied, low carbonation but with a fresh velvety mouth feel.
- Taste : An explosion of fruity flavours, with mango and passionfruit at the forefront with a playful vanilla backdrop that swoops in and cuts through the sourness giving it a sweet little zing.
This is the third beer in the Merakai Grose Series, unfortunately I have not had the chance to try the other two… yet. I love it, at 6.5% its no baby, but I can definitely find a place for this especially in these warm summer months!
I have to admit though I do feel that these sours are an acquired taste, they are so far removed from what I would call traditional ale. Not that, that is a bad thing, this is a very fruit punchy, very zingy, and very much a Sam can you get me some more of this please, kind of beer!
Our overall rating: 3.9/ 5.0
