Mikkeller – Hallo Ich Bin Raspberry Berliner (3.7% ABV)

Welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists, today we have something slightly different on the cards, we have our first ever guest reviewer who is chomping at the bit to get to know you all. He is a seasoned veteran drinker (as are we all) so I will leave you in his capable hands.

Hallo ich bin Mark the new guest reviewer to The Eternal Hoptimists. As I am introducing myself I though what better way to start than with a beer that likes to introduce itself; Hallo Ich Bin Berliner a 3.7%abv raspberry Berliner Weiss from world renowned brewery Mikkeller.

  1. Name : Hallo Ich Bin Berliner (Translates to Hello I am)
  2. Brewery:  Mikkeller, Copenhagen (beer brewed in Belgium)
  3. Hops : Not specified
  4. Grain :  Barley and wheat
  5. Aroma : Tarte raspberry jam/Puree
  6. Appearance : Eye catching pink/ruby red with a fluffy pink tinged head which quickly dissipates
  7. Body :  Surprisingly well bodied for the low abv
  8. Taste : Lovely, tarte but not overpowering raspberry flavours with a subtle touch of cherry which adds sweetness. Nice, light wheat flavour backbone

A real eye-catching beer that has an appealing can design and looks wonderful in the glass. This is an excellent refreshing summer beer which has a great array of lingering tarte flavours and at 3.7% abv proves to be very easy drinking.  A well brewed beer that is very true to style and is easily identifiable as a true Berliner Weisse rather than having you confused as to whether you have a beer or fruit juice.

I for one am glad that this beer introduced itself to me as I have a feeling that throughout the summer months, we could become very good friends!
