Hi there fellow beer lovers,
I’m a tea lover, I drink gallons of the stuff. A strong cup of builders with a dash of milk, lovely. So, a beer with added tea should suit me. The tea though is Early Grey that strange posh brew flavoured with bergamot oil. Getting a bad feeling about this before I crack it open…
From the label “Boldly floral, much like your Granny’s bedroom…” now I am having second thoughts!

- Name : Gunnamatta Earl Grey IPA
- Brewery: Brewed for Yeastie Boys by Utopian Brewing, Crediton, Devon
- Hops : Not specified
- Grain : Barley and wheat
- Aroma : Light delicate floral notes with a hint of citrus
- Appearance : Amber to orange in colour almost opaque with a white frothy head
- Body : Full bodied, low to medium carbonation with some head retention
- Taste : Some fruitiness, floral and with a dry finish. Like a sophisticated version of the Lipton flavoured ice tea.
Well, that was a surprise. I didn’t think it would be good but all the components came together surprisingly well to produce a quirky interesting beer that was still recognisable as a beer. Not one I would drink much of but sat outside in the sunshine this would hit the spot. Thumbs up from me.
