Hello, and welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists!
Today we are taking a closer look at another another beer from our Beer52 experiment.
This one is a double dry hopped (DDH) IPA so normally you would expect plenty of hops coming through. Will being towards the end of its shelf life have too much of a detrimental effect on it?
The brewer notes on the label that carbon offset is achieved by planting native Irish trees.

- Name : Let them eat hops!
- Brewery: Third Barrel Brewing, Dublin, Ireland
- Hops : Citra (whirlpool) and Citra and Strata (dry)
- Grain : Malted barley, oats and wheat
- Aroma : Quite hoppy but with a slightly sour undertone
- Appearance : Amber almost orange, slightly hazy with a frothy white head
- Body : Full bodied, lightly carbonated but head retention was poor
- Taste : Still quite hoppy, with tropical fruit flavours but a slightly sour or tart finish
A perfectly reasonable IPA still with good hop flavours but in a packed market not outstanding. This is one I would like to try fresher to make a proper comparison.
