This is a collaboration beer inspired by cult Leeds bakehouse Noonchi Cake’s cherry-chocolate flecked signature flavour, ‘Cherry Chip.’
For me porters can be a little bit dull with muddy flavours, so it will be interesting to see how this one comes out. Being an Imperial Porter, it is brewed to a stronger ABV but will it all prove to be too sweet and too strong?

- Name : Cherry Chip
- Brewery: Kirkstall Brewery, Leeds
- Hops : Not specified
- Grain : Malted barley, wheat and oats
- Aroma : Once the can was opened this one could be smelt from some distance away. Rich, sweet and dense with maraschino cherries dominant
- Appearance : Black but with some light bleed when examined but with no real head
- Body : Full bodied, medium carbonation but even with oats added to the mash no head retention
- Taste : Rich, intense and chocolaty at first with sweet cherries following and a dry finish. Lingering dominant cherry flavour
Another impressive dark beer from this brewery. Beautifully judged and balanced, sweet but not overpowering, with a changing flavour profile and a nice dry finish. At 9% it is clearly very potent, but this is very well hidden, with no alcohol kick or burn. Dangerously drinkable.
