Hi there fellow beer lovers,
Welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists Spooktakular Halloween lead-up special.
First reaction to this beer is what striking can art. Cartoon anglerfish using lemons in place of lights to entice clownfish into their teeth laden mouths. Don’t let kiddies see it or they’ll be having nightmares about poor old Nemo.
This promises to be packed with citrus fruit flavours thanks to the kaffir lime leaves, orange and lemon peel added during the brewing process, according to the can. The hops are described as American ‘C’ hops so presumably some combination of Cascade, Centennial, Columbus, Chinook and Citra.

- Name : C-Monster
- Brewery: Little Critters Brewing Company, Sheffield, South Yorkshire
- Hops : ‘American C hops’
- Grain : Malted barley, wheat and oats
- Aroma : Strong citrus aroma with hints of wet cut grass
- Appearance : Golden with a hint of haze and a white head
- Body : Medium bodied, Medium carbonation with some head retention
- Taste : Quite dry with strong citrus fruity flavours prominent. Surprising lack of bitterness with a soft mellow finish
A cracking IPA variant. An appropriate level of alcohol for a true IPA but the potency is disguised making it a very easy drinking beer. The twist appears to be in masking any bitterness with the clever use of citrus flavours leaving a soft mouthfeel overall. Adding oats gives a creamy smoothness and improves the head retention. A very moreish beer and sadly I only had the one can. One to look out for.
