Butcombe is a brewery more associated with cask ales than craft bottle, so it was interesting to spot this in Lidl during their Beer Festival Week. Called Bohemia, could this be a nod towards Czech pilsner style? Alas no, according to the label ‘Brewed for the beatniks, created against convention, made by mavericks.’ Not many bohemian types in East Hull but let’s give it a go…

- Appearance : Light gold, clear with a tight white head
- Body : Medium bodied, heavily carbonated with reasonable head retention
- Taste : Crisp and dry with a slightly bitter finish and some yeasty bread to the finish
Off to buy a turtleneck and some skinny jeans sign me up daddyo. You don’t need to beatnik to enjoy this lager which is a relief because its rather nice.
