Welcome back to the eternal Hoptimists.
With our AF 2 week coverage coming to an end very soon, Sam still has a few cheeky AF Collab’s to have a look at. First up is this Chocolate & Vanillla Imperial Stout, with some very eye catching illustrative work on the can by Fierce and Mash Gang.

- Name: Very Little Moose
- Brewery: Fierce Beer X Mash Gang
- Hops : Not Stated
- Aroma : Strong chocolate and vanilla notes with a slight oatyness
- Appearance : Coca-Cola brown, opaque with a slight golden hue with a cappuccino coloured head when poured.
- Body : Thin bodied, well carbonated poor head retention.
- Taste : Quite watery, with a whisp of chocolate and a big hit of strong vanilla, lacks depth and has a almost watery coco pops like aftertaste.
I wanted to like this one, but it was just lacking the body, and it didn’t really deliver on what I was hoping. I like Fierce’s Very Big Moose so I was hoping for the same punchy flavour without the ABV. However, this was more like a watered down cordial version, which just didn’t cut the mustard with me.
Don’t get me wrong, this is definitely is still drinkable and I guess for all intense and purposes it is a stout rather than the more common AF IPA, but if given the chance I would much rather have some of the other low and AF beers we’ve had over the last 2 weeks than this one.
Sam’s overall rating: 2.8 / 5.0
