At Hoptimist Towers we pride ourselves in being thorough and at times ground-breaking. Christmas has just gone and we are all looking to recover from our excesses, hence the low-alcohol fortnight.
Now we do not condone the giving of alcoholic beverages to pets, but we do recognise that a dog is man’s best friend and as friends we like to share experiences so why not enjoy a low alcohol beer together.
The label sold it to me. “Help give your dog ‘real tail swagger’ providing the status and respect they deserve with their doggy peers. This ultimate doggy refreshment will help make your dog leader of the pack and will have other dogs sniffing their bottoms with jealousy!”

Highly typical of Freddie, who was the planned guest reviewer, he took one sniff and walked away. No amount of persuasion could convince him to even give it a try and I tried dipping my finger in it for him to lick.
So, with our canine reviewer in a strop, it fell to me to ‘take one for the team’ and give it a go. At this point I must stress that I only had a sip, even this tight Yorkshire accountant was going to try no more.
There was little by way or scent or taste, presumably because dogs have greater sensitivity and no, I didn’t want to rush around sniffing bottoms either.
Our Pooch’s overall rating: Freddie declined to offer a score
