This was another beer brought by Mark to a recent tasting session we had in the garden. Personally, I’m not too fussed over the style (call it an IPA and it will sell) but its one of Mark’s favourites.
Will this beer win over this tired old cynic?

- Name : Black IPA
- Brewery: Big Hug Brewing, London
- Hops : Citra and Mosaic
- Grain : Malted barley, flaked oats and wheat
- Aroma : Predominantly roasted malt but some hops as well
- Appearance : Dark brown almost black, brief cream coloured head
- Body : Full bodied, medium carbonation but with poor head retention
- Taste : Very strong roasted malt with a slight smokiness, hints of dark chocolate, a hoppy bitterness but with a slightly tart finish
A decent black IPA but not outstanding. A good flavour profile making for a decent drinking beer, but the flavour died quickly. Certainly one I would be happy to drink again even if I am not totally won over by it.
