Cricket fans I know what you are thinking, IPL Indian Premier League! Much as we love cricket at Hoptimist Towers (well we are Yorkshiremen) this is of course a beer blog, and this is a new hybrid beer that caught my eye.
The can states “an unholy alliance of beer styles that brings out the best of both worlds, the crisp refreshing flavours of a lager combined with the distinctive character of an IPA. Expressive, bright and balanced.”

- Name : Indian Pale Lager
- Brewery: Freedom Brewery Ltd, Staffordshire
- Hops : Centennial and Cascade
- Grain : Malted barley
- Aroma : Floral hops
- Appearance : Pale straw, clear with a white head
- Body : Medium bodied, well carbonated with some head retention
- Taste : Initially quite crisp with fruity notes but then bitter edge with dry finish
A perfectly decent easy drinking beer. The lager characteristics come through much more than that of the IPA and at only 4% it is lacking in oomph. My advice would be to ignore the label and drink it as a summer quencher which is does admirably.
