The first step to every relationship, is always the first step onto Lovers Lane, therefore what better a brewery to start on than the brewery located in the creative Baltic Triangle district of Liverpool, Love Lane.
As we all know ladies love a tall dark and handsome man, so an Imperial Stout with deep flavours and strong body seemed like the right choice to start us off!
- Name : Imperial Stout
- Brewery: Love Lane Brewery Ltd, Baltic Triangle, Liverpool
- Hops : Pahto
- Grain : Golden Promise, Crystal 150, Crystal T50, Carafa III and Chocolate malts, and flaked oats
- Aroma : A strong scent of roasted malts but with a sweet fruitiness as well, possibly plums?
- Appearance : Jet black with no discernible light bleed when held to a light and produced a brown coloured head
- Body : Full bodied, medium carbonated but disappointing lack of heads retention
- Taste : A deep, strong, intensely flavoured beer. Roasted malts to the fore with some dark chocolate but sweet rather than bitter. A wine like finish with a lingering hint of liquorice on the palate
A very good Imperial stout with a complex flavour profile and plenty of oomph.
