Hophurst Brewery – Love is noise, Double IPA (8% ABV)

Hello and welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists Love is in the air, Valentines special week!

I have purposely been saving this beer to review as part of our Valentines specials, Why? Well, the obvious thing is the name of the beer Love Is Noise but also Hophurst is a brewery that I first discovered late 2021 and instantly fell in love with their beer and their ethos.

Hophurst is a social enterprise microbrewery that re-skills and employs people over the age of 50 through a training and re-skilling programme with their purpose to give new vigour, new passion and new purpose to an often-overlooked community demographic. With this in mind who can’t love a brewery such as this?

Over the course of drinking Hophurst beers I have tried many different styles but Love Is Noise is the first DIPA that I have had from the brewery. Here’s hoping that this will be another hit!

1. Name : Love is noise

2. Brewery: Hophurst Brewery (Wigan, England)

3. Hops :  Citra, Simcoe, Mosaic, Ekuanot & Cryo POP

4. Grain :  Barley, Wheat & Oats

5. Aroma : Hop combination gives off a nice tropical fruit nose

6. Appearance : Pours a hazy golden colour with a one finger white head that as drunk leaves a nice lacing in the glass

7. Body :  Lovely full bodied beer giving a nice mouthfeel

8. Taste :  Reminiscent of an old school DIPA in many ways. Not packed with punchy hops but the hop combination works very well giving off a very pleasant and extremely well balanced juicy flavour profile. Leaves a nice hop burn on the palate after drinking.

Yep…..Another Hophurst beer that I really enjoyed. This one took me back to when I first discovered DIPA’S as it has a very well balanced hop combination and an extremely full mouthfeel which works well. If you approach this one expecting a full on hop explosion you might be a tad disappointed but believe me everything in this just works and it was a joy to drink.

Love is Noise was brewed to celebrate Hophurst’s seventh birthday and what a fine beer to celebrate with. All I can say is I hope this brewery gets to celebrate many more birthdays as they will go from strength to strength in the coming years. This is a beer well worth looking out for if they have a re-brew of it, if not, check the brewery out and place an order of any of their other beers as not only will you be supporting a great cause but you will also be drinking great beer.
