Belschnickel Brewery – Pfaffendorf, Gose (4.1% ABV)

Welcome Back to the Eternal Hoptimists,

Don’t let the German names fool you, this Gose is from closer to home then you think. So close in fact that it is brewed in my home town of Hull, so naturally I had to give it a try for our everything must Gose week.

1. Name : Pfaffendorf

2. Brewery: Belchnickel (Hull)

3. Hops :  N/A

4. Grain :  Wheat, Barley

5. Aroma :  Smells very medicinal similar to a deep heat with a slice of lemon and salt.

6. Appearance : Opaque pale barley in colour with a tight white head when poured.

7. Body : Thin bodied, good level of carbonation with good head retention.

8. Taste :  Salted iced tea, with a wash of sour lemon and apple.

This was a very refreshing beverage with a salty kick at the end. Very similar to an iced tea pale I had in 2021, I will definitely be picking another one of these up again when I next find myself hull-ward bound.

Our overall rating: 3.6/ 5.0
