Amity Brew Co X Marshmallowist – Sensible , S’more Stout (4.0% ABV)

Welcome Back to the Eternal Hoptimist.

Happy Easter everyone! Today we are seeing in our Easter Sunday with a collaborative marshmallow stout from Amity Brew Co & The Marshmallowist.

This is their second collaboration, the first being Nonsense in 2021 which we reviewed previously. but will sensible hold a candle to the original more punch stout?

1. Name : Sensible

2. Brewery: Amity Brew Co X Marshmallowist

3. Hops :  N/A

4. Grain :  Barley, Wheat & Oats

5. Aroma :  sweet scent of marshmallow with a subtle hint of biscuit.

6. Appearance : Dark to milk chocolate hazy brown, with a tight slightly offwhite head when poured.

7. Body : Medium bodied, well carbonated with poor head retention.

8. Taste :  A morish sweet mouthful of vanilla, marshmallow with a hint of oaty biscuit to finish.

This one has a very strong marshmallow feel, but it isnt quite as deep as the original from 2021 hence my slightly lower score. It still delivers on sweetness and will scratch the itch of many a sweet tooth. Its well rounded and the biscuit gives it a real S’more taste.

The Actual Marshmallows

Weirdly enough, as soon as I cracked open the box, I suddenly had a very eagar tasting assistant (the wife). The original product is of a very high quality and is presented brilliantly. They have the right amount of fluff to goo to sweetness ratio, which makes them amazing candidates for s’mores.

Whats the comparison like?

There is a definite similarity to the original product and the Sensible brew (as you would expect). The only difference is that the beer has a little more tartness to it towards the end.. all in all not a bad job at all!

Our overall rating: 3.8/ 5.0
