T|E|H – On Tour – La Palma: The Hotel

The Hotel

All-inclusive beer!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Draft:

Cruzcampo unpasteurised ABV (uncertain website suggests 5.7% but I believe this was less)

Mass-market, mass-produced lager by Heineken España, S.A the beer of Seville and destined to be the next ‘premium lager’ to be promoted on the UK market. On draft, uninspiring but I’ve had many worse, acceptable for a week, but a two-week stay would require a bit of a re-think.

Peters Score: 3.0 / 5.0

Bottles :

Cruzcampo Gran Reserva 6.4% €4.00 330ml

Aroma: Sweet and malty
Appearance: Amber and clear but with no head
Body: Full bodied with medium carbonisation
Taste: Sweet and caramel up front, much more malty than hoppy

Now this was a bit more like it, a malty lager with a bit of character.

Score: 3.8/ 5.0

Dorada Especial La Original (5.7%) €1.80 330ml

A locally brewed beer of the Canary Islands

Appearance: Light gold and clear

Body: A little better than standard lager, medium body and not over carbonated

Taste: Crisp and quite sharp initially followed bit some malt. Slight bitterness added to a dry finish

Good all-round beer to make a change from the draught on offer.

Peters Score 3.5/ 5.0

not Bad Not Bad… but its slim pickings for the entire trip, so stay tuned for Tomorrows cover of Campo Futbol Adelino Torres & Salinas Marinas de Fuencaliente.
