T|E|H Into The Mild: Rudgate – Ruby Mild (4.4%ABV)

Welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists.

Today as part of our into the mild segment John is checking out a classic mild by Rudgate. Unlike the Oak aged version mark looked at this one promises the same full flavour but with a lower ABV

  1. Name: Ruby Mild
  2. Brewery: Rudgate
  3. Hops : N/A
  4. Grain : Malted barley
  5. Aroma:  Strong malty Aroma, with a hint of Smokey molasses.
  6. Appearance: Deep red in colour, with a medium off white head when poured.
  7. Body:   Smooth, Medium Bodied, good carbonation, decent head retention
  8. Taste: The Smokey notes come through with a vague malted chocolate like accompaniment, easy drinking, but with plenty of warmth.

This one is a prime example of a good old school traditional mild, low ABV, middle flavour pallet, and easy drinking. It’s the sort of pint I would have had a few of on a lunch break before heading back to my tools & the forge!

Very obvious why Rudgate has won so many awards over the years for its mild, it get a big thumbs up from me!
