Hello, and welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists,
It is not very often that I come across beers from Left Handed Giant so needless to say that I am excited by the prospect of getting their hazy New England IPA, Maximum Loops into my glass. Even more so when I discovered the hop combination of Citra, Cashmere and Mosaic which on their own work well and all three usually combine with other hops to make a delightfully flavoured beverage.
So, without further ado, lets see if my excitement comes to fruition in the taste.
1. Name : Maximum Loops
2. Brewery: Left Handed Giant (Bristol)
3. Hops : Citra, Cashmere & Mosaic
4. Grain : Barley, Oats & Wheat
5. Aroma : Hop combination gives off a very appealing soft fruit aroma. Smells incredibly clean and fresh that has the palate salivating before it even hits the mouth
6. Appearance : Pours a hazy lemon/light straw colour with a lingering fluffy two finger white head
7. Body : Medium body with a very soft, pillowy mouthfeel. Easily identifiable as a NEIPA and a quality one to boot!
8. Taste : Incredibly moreish taste with the hop combination working extremely well, creating a very well balanced and flavoursome beer.
Oh my word, Left Handed Giant this is lovely! From the second this hit the glass it had me smiling at what was about to come. It looks fabulous, smells incredible and as for the taste everything about this just works, and very well!
Maximum Loops has all the characteristics of a quality New England IPA from the soft, pillowy mouthfeel to the excellent array of flavours and one has to say that the hop combination is incredibly well put together and adds a superb balance to proceedings. The flavour starts with Mosaic to the fore which lingers on the palate with the Citra and Cashmere accompanying this well, creating a delightful flavour profile.
I started by saying that I don’t come across Left Handed Giant beers all that often but having quaffed and thoroughly enjoyed Maximum Loops I will endeavour to seek out other beers from them more often, and this one will certainly be one that I will get again whenever I find it.
Top drawer, enjoyed it……A LOT!!
