Hello, and welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists,
This was a can that I got in a box from Beer 52 that caught my eye. A simple bold, striking can design, a US brewed porter and a bloody stupid name. I love a decent porter and this one promises plenty of flavour and at 6% a bit of a punch.
“Do you like chocolate and peanut butter but hat all that pesky chewing? Give your teeth a vacation with our rich, full-bodied chocolate peanut butter porter.” So a beer for the sweet toothed who don’t have many teeth left!

- Name : Purple Monkey Dishwasher
- Brewery: Evil Genius Beer Co., Philadelphia, USA
- Hops : Not specified
- Grain : Roasted and malted barley
- Aroma : Roasty, slightly sweet and hints of nuttiness
- Appearance : Black with a cream coloured head
- Body : Medium bodied, soft carbonation and with some head retention
- Taste : Slightly sweet, malty with a chocolate hit and hints of nuts. A strong lingering aftertaste
- Dietary restrictions : No claims made
Don’t let the silly name put you off, this is a very impressive beer. Some porters can taste a bit bland and ‘muddy’, dismissed as another brown beer, but not this one. Lovely flavours develop, its beautifully balanced and smooth on the palate but also backed up with some alcoholic potency. It’s also one of the few beers I’ve drunk that promise nuts in the flavour profile that delivers.
One to keep an eye open for.
