Welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists Spookoween Spectacular. John somehow found his way out of the Knightmarian Labyrinth to only stumble across a bunch of undead monks! How unlucky can you get!
Turns out there was no danger though, as they just wanted him to try their new tipple, no its not mead its a Modern Sour!

- Name: Buckie
- Brewery: Vault City
- Hops: N/A
- Aroma: Stewed Blackberries, with a real kick of sourness
- Appearance: Opaque Raspberry purple pink in colour, with a thick white head when poured.
- Body: Medium to full body, pretty good carbonation for a sour, but it was lacking in head retention.
- Taste: Stewed fruity pie filling (Blackberry and raspberry), with a hint of cough medicine, and a cheeky sourness that comes through near the end that make the mouth pucker, and water simultaneously. There was also no alcoholic burn despite its 10.5% ABV, which made this one super dangerous to drink!
Personally 10.5% isn’t a session-able amount, but 10.5% for me is certainly a session. Yet again I find myself tipping my hat to Vault City, they certainly know what they are doing with the Modern Sours. This is morish, and delicious and with no burn incredibly dangerous.
Can a beer be a trick and a treat at the same time?… I think this might just be.. now don’t mind me I’m just going to have a lay down!
John’s overall Jack o Rating is: 4.0/ 5.0
