Welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists Spookoween 2023 special.
Now this is a Spooky beer that warrants no introduction. Trooper is a premium British beer inspired by Iron Maiden and handcrafted at Robinsons brewery. Being a real ale enthusiast, Bruce Dickinson has developed a beer which has true depth of character.
It has had its share of controversy this year as it adorned the front of the good beer guide 2023, which was met with mixed opinion. But will this beer be a Trick or a treat?! on John can decide that one! so take it away John!
- Name: Trooper 10th Anniversary
- Brewery: Robinsons Brewery
- Hops: Bobek, Goldings & Cascade
- Aroma: Strong scent of hops upfront with a cheeky malty backing.
- Appearance: Clear Amber in colour with a nice white head when poured.
- Body: Medium bodied, good level of carbonation with ok head retention.
- Taste: Cracking old school hoppy beer with a cheeky malty accompaniment, which morphed to quite a citrusy almost zingy finish that makes your mouth water.
I cracked this one open at 2 minutes to midnight as I have no fear of the dark. This was a lovely traditional pint. I think its particularly exceptional for a bottled beer, and I can see why it has been so popular.
