Hello, and welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists,
Before we get into the Christmas spirit, its time to explore a couple of beers that have been suspended in our beer cupboard for some time!
Now that we have explored Infinite Space, its time to crack open a Space Soda!

- Name : Space Soda
- Brewery: Makemake ( Southsea, UK)
- Hops : N/A
- Grain : Barley, Wheat & Oats
- Aroma : Strawberries and Cream, and then a strong hit of Mango.
- Appearance : Opaque Mango orange, with no head when poured.
- Body : Medium to heavy bodied ( Smoothie like) low carbonation, no head retention
- Taste : Not overly sweet, or sour, but little aspects of both, its very very fruity upfront particularly the Mango and then you get a hit of sherbet like sweetness before mellowing to hints of strawberry and vanilla.
This is the first beer I have had from Makemake, and it certainly was a bit of a rollercoaster of flavours. However, I think it works! I’d say it was more on the sweeter side of sour, but it was very nice.
John & Peter would firmly categorize this in the category of “not a beer, BUT its very nice!”
I will certainly be looking for more of Makemake’s beers in the future, and im curious to know what the other flavours in the Space Soda Series taste like (Plum & Honey Berry, Space Soda II)
Sam’s overall rating: 3.8/ 5.0
