Hello, and welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists,
I spotted this one as a Christmas special in Lidl at £1.79 a can and being brewed by the usually reliable Stewart Brewing it seemed only right to give it a try for our readers.
The can suggests sugar, spice and all things nice so perfect for a Christmas special beer.

- Name : All Good in the Pud
- Brewery: Stewart Brewing, Loanhead, Edinburgh
- Hops : Not specified
- Grain : Malted barley, wheat and oats
- Aroma : Sweet and spicy, cinnamon, dried fruits and brown sugar
- Appearance : A dark reddish brown, taking on more of a chestnut hue when held to a light, looks fairly clear, with a cream coloured head
- Body : Full bodied, medium carbonated but with poor head retention
- Taste : A hit of caramelised sugar but more of a dark treacle than full on sugar rush. Dried and candied fruit follow with intense spice and a dry finish
- Dietary restrictions : Unpasteurised and unfiltered
This is a strange and complex beer that I think will really divide opinions between friends. The Christmas pudding flavours are all there, but the spicing is intense and produces a very dry finish with lingering cinnamon and nutmeg on the palate. The ABV is on the low side for this style of beer which helps to keep the price down and makes it accessible but for me leaves it a lightweight. Nice as a one off special but one would be enough for me.
Our overall rating: 3.8/ 5.0
