Ridgeway Brewing – Santa’s Butt (6.0% ABV)

Hello, and welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists,

HoHoHo! its Christmas!

I hope you all had a great time opening those prezzies! Its now time for me to crack open a bottle of beer with my Christmas dinner! What could be better Christmas dinner by the fire with your loved ones next to the tree and a bottle of.. Santa’s Butt?… oh now, come on!

  1. Name : Santa’s Butt
  2. Brewery: Ridgeway brewing
  3. Hops : N/A
  4. Grain : Barley & Oats
  5. Aroma : Spiced Frits and Tabacco with a hint of Tar.
  6. Appearance : Very dark in appearance with a very thin slightly off white head when poured.
  7. Body : Thin to medium bodied, o carbonation but with poor head retention.
  8. Taste : Warming Spices with hints of Tobacco, with a slightly cough medicine / tar like finish.

This was certainly a traditional Christmas winter porter, it was a little thin so that let the side down a little but the flavours were there just not as punchy as I was expecting.

As Mark said previously Christmas Beers can be a bit of a cash grab attempt, I don’t think this is, is one of them certainly good enough for me just needs a little bit more body, unlike the Santa on the bottle, as we can see he has cake for days!

Sam’s overall rating: 3.8/ 5.0
