Hello, and welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists,
Today Sam is taking a look at Cloudwaters first foray into Alcohol free beer. It is designed to match the hop impact and body of their alcoholic New England IPA’s.
However, will it leave him feeling fresh and fancy free, or will the leave him downtrodden and down right rotten?

- Name : Fresh
- Brewery: Cloudwater Brewing Co
- Hops : N/A
- Grain : N/A
- Aroma : Forest Fresh- a nice blend of pine needle notes and a sweet hoppy scent.
- Appearance : Very pale, clear, straw yellow with an open brilliant white head when poured.
- Body : Medium bodied, well carbonated with decent head retention.
- Taste : Light & refreshing hop with a little zest before morphing to a pine needle bitterness that makes your mouth water.
This one was very light , super easy drinking which is what you want from a low ABV tipple. But despite its light and breezy nature it still delivered quite a lot of flavour, not a punch to the face but enough to keep you going back for more.
I would say this is a very good beer alternative, and from the IPA and NEIPA’s I’ve had from Cloudwater, its a little thinner, but its not a bad match. So I feel they have managed to achieve what they set out to do, and for their first non alcoholic beer its very good indeed!
