Hello and welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists,
In my household I am the Thornbridge beer fan and my sixteen-year-old daughter is a massive fan of the Thornbridge can art and always comments on how nice they look. As I got Floresta out of the cupboard to review, instantly she took the can out of my hands and said, ‘I really love this can!’.
It is presented in an eye-catching shade of pink to reflect the flavour profile of blackcurrant, blackberry, raspberry and blueberry so I agree with Lily in that it is a can that is presented very well and draws you in straight away. Let’s just hope that it’s not a case of looks can be deceiving.

1. Name : Floresta
2. Brewery: Thornbridge, Bakewell
3. Hops : Not specified
4. Grain : Barley & Wheat
5. Aroma : Tarte berry on the nose with an aroma akin to a Berliner Weisse
6. Appearance : Pours a deep red/pink with a one finger fluffy white head
7. Body : Light body with a nice mouthfeel.
8. Taste : Pleasant, thirst quenching mix of berries on the palate that does not linger long. This is a shame as after the initial taste this one becomes a little forgettable. The sourness is very subtle and is more of a tarte fruity flavour. In the era where sour beers are really coming to the fore this one it is fair to say is middle of the road.
Not only is the can presented in a striking shade of pink but once the beer is poured you can see the same in the glass with a fabulous pink tone to both the beer and head this one is incredibly easy on the eye and oozes quality. Unfortunately, the taste does not quite live up to appearance on this one with the mix of blackcurrant, blackberry, raspberry, and blueberry not quite hitting the hights that I had hoped.
Floresta is a pleasant, rather than world beating beer that is enjoyable but certainly won’t blow you away. Since buying a couple of cans of this I have found out that it is no longer in production, which is a shame as I wouldn’t have minded trying this on keg in the summer months rather than a chilly autumnal Sunday as I may well have enjoyed it more than I did.
