Roosters – Go Backer (3.6% ABV)

Hello and welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists,

Whenever I see the name Roosters I know that what is going to appear in my glass is going to be reliable, sometimes this goes against the brewery as I might think, do I want reliable or something a little different?

Every now and then I do come across something that that ticks the different box and sparks my interest from this brewery, and it is safe to say that more often than not I enjoy it too. In this review I will be taking a look at one such beer that when I saw the can I simply had to buy, that beer is a Vermont session IPA called Go Backer that is coming in at a very sessionable sounding 3.6% abv.

1. Name : Go Backer

2. Brewery: Roosters Brewing Co (Harrogate)

3. Hops :  Not stated

4. Grain :  Barley & Wheat

5. Aroma : Nose is a rather pleasant zesty citrus fruit flavour with a hint of sherbet and a light, sweet malt edge.

6. Appearance : Pours a hazy light amber with a two finger fluffy white head

7. Body :  Light body with an easy drinking, soft and juicy mouthfeel

8. Taste :  As with the aroma this one has a very appealing citrus fruit flavour dominating proceedings. This is backed by a nicely balanced sweet malty edge and a very pleasant lingering bitter hop finish.

All I can say I well played Roosters Brewing Co! This is a very pleasant, easy drinking and highly sessionable take on a Vermont style IPA. At just 3.6% abv this one is so easy drinking that you could easily finding yourself sessioning on this one and if I see it on a bar, I can see myself doing just this.

I started by saying that I do not always find myself gravitating towards a Roosters beer but on the evidence of what I have just drank I will certainly make more of an effort whenever I come across their beers. Go Backer is a very tasty beer that I thoroughly enjoyed, and I am certain that if you pick up a can or two you will too.
