Hello and welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists,
We are back again with another imported American beer found in Home Bargains in the form of Virginia Beer co’s Gorgeous Citra IPA that promises to be citrusy, soft and hazy. All of this sounds good to me so let’s see what happens when I pour the beer. Here’s hoping that it lives up to it’s name and is indeed gorgeous.

1. Name : Gorgeous
2. Brewery: Virginia Beer (Williamsburg USA – Imported by Heathwick ltd, London)
3. Hops : Citra
4. Grain : Barley, wheat, oats & Yeast
5. Aroma : Nose is of soft, juicy tropical fruit that simply draws you in.
6. Appearance : Pours a very hazy amber colour with a one finger white head
7. Body : Medium body with a delightfully soft mouthfeel.
8. Taste : Wow…..This has a superb flavour profile with soft citrus/tropical fruit notes and a lovely use of the Citra hop that is beautifully balanced. Each mouthful is a joy to the palate, and you simply want more and more as you are left with a wonderful flavour in the mouth long after each mouthful is consumed.
Oh, my word, this is a beer of quality, in all honesty I have paid much more for beers that do not come close to this one. At a bargain price of £1.49 that I paid for a 355ml can this is an absolute steal! In fact, so much so that the day after writing this review I went back and bought several more.
I have to say that so far, I have been very impressed with these imported American beers in Home Bargains and in all honesty Gorgeous Citra IPA is at the top of the tree. Being a sucker for a New England IPA and the Citra hop I was hoping that this one would be good, but take my word this is a very appropriately named beer as it is……Gorgeous!
