Station stop one – Skipton – The Narrowboat
Our first stop in Skipton is the newly owned Kirkstall Brewery Pub, The Narrowboat. It is a very popular watering hole in Skipton and sports quite a number of tipples available, we could have quite easily of spent the whole day there but alas were on a train so it was just a swift pint each before moving on.

Review by Stuart
- Name : Black Band Porter (5.0% ABV)
- Brewery: Kirkstall Brewery
- Appearance : Dark cloudy beer, with a slightly mocha coloured head
- Aroma: Mild Coffee, with light tones of hops
- Body : Medium to full bodied with good head retention.
- Taste : Pleasant beer with a real toffee & Coffee base, but it starts off bitter and gets more full of flavour as you go, could easily sink a few of these.
Stuart’s overall rating: 4.4/ 5.0

Review by John
- Name : Kreik Cherry Beer (3.4 ABV)
- Brewery: Kirkstall Brewery
- Appearance : Clear red in colour with a slight open head when poured
- Aroma: Cheery through and through, mouth-watering so.
- Body : light in body, well carbonated no head retention.
- Taste : Cherries without the stones, incredibly morish and refreshing but after a pint a little overpowering.
John’s overall rating: 4.0/ 5.0

- Appearance : Clear golden colour with a finger thick white head when poured.
- Aroma: mild hop with a wheaty backing, smells very traditional
- Body : Medium bodied, well carbonated with good head retention.
- Taste : Quite thirst quenching, definite strong hop taste that coats the tongue, but a very good traditional tipple.

So we are already four beers down in The Narrowboat, but we have another venue to go in Skipton, so we supped up and moved onto the Skipton Sound Bar!
Station stop one – Skipton – The Skipton Sound Bar

This was a very different vibe to The Narrowboat, it was a lot more chill and the musical instruments and paraphernalia made interesting features, we even found a live recording of a Simple Plan album, that non of us had heard of before!
