Hello and welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists,
Mark is back again looking at a particularly interesting sour today for our summer sourz segment, lets see what he has to say about it.
My eldest daughter recently had a weekend break in Poland and seeing the photos reminded me that I still had a can of a Polish imperial pastry sour lurking in the beer cupboard. So now seems an appropriate time to crack this can of the wonderful looking and sounding Royal Ma-Noi from Browar Nepomucen and give it a review…..I’m excited!!!

. Name : Royal Ma-Noi
2. Brewery: Browar Nepomucen (Poland)
3. Hops : Columbus
4. Grain : Barley, & Wheat with mango pulp, passion fruit pulp, lactose, maltodextrin & natural vanilla.
5. Aroma : Fleshy mango & passion fruit with a wonderful sweet vanilla edge, this just smells amazing!
6. Appearance : Pours a wonderful, deep amber colour with a quickly dissipating two to three finger fluffy white head that has elements of the fruit pulp contained within. The beer also has fruit pulp particles floating in the glass that makes this incredible on the eye.
7. Body : Lovely full bodied beer with a nice creamy mouthfeel. Almost slips down too well for its strength.
8. Taste : The aroma on this transitions very well to the taste. This is such a complex, yet beautifully well-balanced beer that has all fruit flavours present with each combining so well. The beer has a nice level of sourness that is not face curling and this is helped by the vanilla that just adds more to what is in all honesty a beautiful beer.
Oh my word, what an incredible beer this is! Everything just oozes class, from the stunning can art, to the pour, to the aroma and certainly the taste that is just something to behold.
I could go on and on about how good this is but instead let me try and keep this brief in saying that the fruit flavours work so well, and this is superbly well balanced out by the vanilla that just adds more complexity rather than throwing it off in an unwelcome direction.
Now, I will admit that I had a few cans of this, and I saved my last for review but whether or not I can find anymore is another question. If not, I can sense a weekend break to Poland on the horizon or paying for another case on my daughters flight if she decides to visit again as believe me the quality on this is worth the effort……Stunning!
