Roosters Brewing Co – Red Rock Session Rye IPA (4.6% ABV) #RedRock

Hello and welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists.

Have not seen many UK rye beers in recent times so this one really caught the eye on a trawl of the web shop.

  1. Name : Red Rock Session Rye IPA
  2. Brewery: Roosters Brewing Co, Harrogate
  3. Hops : Columbus, Crystal and Simcoe
  4. Grain : Malted barley (Red Rye Crystal Malt), rye and wheat
  5. Aroma : A hint of citrus and some resin
  6. Appearance : Amber, clear with a white head
  7. Body : Medium bodied, medium carbonated with a little head retention
  8. Taste : A touch of citrus to start followed by a little malt. The finish is dry and bitter with a touch of peppery spice and a tang to the aftertaste
  9. Dietary restrictions : Allergens highlighted and vegan friendly

If you love your beer bitter, then this is one for you because it certainly delivers there. There is also a nice spicy pep to lift it out of the mundane.

The ABV is low enough to make this a session IPA and I would be happy to drink this one all night.

Our overall rating: 3.7/ 5.0
