We are back joining Chris , on his journey across Canada, this time he seems to have found a real hidden gem, so much so when he sent me the photos I swore aloud!
Quidi Vidi Brewery is a lively and happening brewery and tap room in the most stunning of locations. The tap room overlooks the boat houses at Quidi Vidi Harbour which leads to the Atlantic ocean.
Live music and other events take place most evenings. Larger food menu available. I had an excellent fried chicken sandwich and Mexican tomato soup.
But what of the beer? its so good I reviewed two!
Name: Dayboil Session IPA 4.5%
Price: $9.00 (£6.66 GBP)
- Brewery: Quidi Vidi Brewery
- Aroma : Grapefruit and citrus with a slight hop.
- Appearance : Cloudy tangerine in colour with a very thin white film head when poured
- Body : Medium bodied with a good level of carbonation.
- Taste : Lots of hops balanced with just the right amount of mouth watering grapefruit.
Their staple IPA, available on draught in many bars and restaurants. A solid bodied, hoppy IPA with plenty of grapefruit flavour yet not too overpowering – a perfect balance for me.
Easy to see why this is one of St John’s signature beers. Really stands up there with the likes of a Kirkstall Virtuous or North Sputnik as a winner every time. I had a good few of these on my trip let me tell you!

Name: Half Fancy, Blueberry Milkshake Ale 5.2%

- Brewery: Quidi Vidi Brewery
- Aroma : Blueberry and lemon scents on the nose
- Appearance : Opaque dark raspberry in colour with a thick open white head when poured.
- Body : surprisingly light, good level of carbonation with good head retention.
- Taste : Very Fruity, and quite creamy, its chock full of blueberry and lemon tones and extremely refreshing
This one made me feel like I was getting my 5 a day and being all healthy drinking this!
Unreal levels of flavour and my favourite beer of the trip. A total tastebud party.
