Beartown Brewery – Skinful (4.2%ABV)

Hi there fellow beer lovers,

Today we are joining Neil on his first foray into reviewing beer, we are hopeful that he will be as good at this as he is drinking them!

Neil joined us on the our 2025 Ale Train, and has since returned home to Beverley raring to go to the Beverley Beer festival that is coming up in September 2025 (keep your eyes peeled for that!)

I will now hand over to Neil to give you his few of the aptly names “Skinful”!

Name: Skinful 4.2% ABV

  1. Brewery: Bear Town Brewery
  2. Aroma : Both malty and hoppy at the same time with a slight scent of rich Christmas cake
  3. Appearance : Very dark for a bitter, its almost like a mild in colour and has a closed creamy white head when poured.
  4. Body :  Full bodied although only 4.2% its rather easy to drink, with good head retention.
  5. Taste : Really drinkable, malt forward with a bit of dark fruit and a good level of hop.

if I has blind tasted this I would have thought it was Brains’ Rev James. It was very warming, and definitley one for those winter months.

A top shelf beer in my opinion, very drinkable and would happily have another.. and another.

Our overall rating: 4.7/ 5.0
