Roosters Brewing Co –High Tea Jasmine Green Tea IPA (6.2% ABV) #HighTea

Hello there fellow beer lovers, its time for tea!

I’ve tried pale ales with Earl Grey added which were surprisingly nice, so I’m always game to try a different variation.

This one is made with tea from Taylors of Harrogate (the makers of Yorkshire Tea) but in this case their green tea. Also added during the brewing process is jasmine flowers. It will be interesting to see what these impart to the flavour.

  1. Name : High Tea Jasmine Green Tea IPA
  2. Brewery: Roosters Brewing Co, Harrogate
  3. Hops : Not specified (but a blend of 4 hops per label)
  4. Grain : Malted barley and wheat
  5. Aroma : Lightly floral with hints of green herbs
  6. Appearance : Pale gold with the merest hint of a green tinge. Slightly hazy with a white head
  7. Body :  Full bodied, medium carbonated with some head retention
  8. Taste : Quite fresh and fruity initially but with a distinctly dry finish. Strong herby tang to the aftertaste
  9. Dietary restrictions : Allergens highlighted and vegan friendly

A proper potent IPA (at 6.2%) and I suspect that Baby Faced Assassin has been used as the base, which can be no bad thing.

The jasmine flowers seemed to have an impact on the aroma but had little effect on my palate. The green tea was more detectable but left me a little unconvince of the flavour making it herby. Not unpleasant and certainly worth a try but not a favourite of mine.

Our overall rating: 3.6/ 5.0
