Welcome back lovers of great beer.
This porter is brewed as part of the ‘Old School Range’ that has been created to reproduce UK and Irish beers in their original, traditional styles.
Here the aim is to go back to the origins of the London Porter, which all porters stem from and uses a London strain of yeast.

- Dietary restrictions : Allergens highlighted. Unfined and unfiltered
This is an excellent traditional style London Porter. The depth of malt is impressive and produces a real complexity to the flavour rather than the ‘muddying’ that lesser porters have. Proving that complex beers don’t have to have huge quantities of hops.
Although the fashion is to serve chilled, thanks to the likes of Guinness extra cold, this is a beer I would recommend serving cool rather than cold. That way the depth of the malts can shine through.
The ABV at 5% is about right too, stronger but a beer that can be drunk in some quantity. Well worth sampling.
Our overall rating: 3.8/ 5.0
