Hello Beer lovers, and welcome back to another review here at TEH.
When we received our box of Dark Revolution beers for review, one instantly jumped out on me as being very different. That beer is the one that I will be taking a look at in this review and is a blueberry and blackberry wit named Hey, Mr.DJ!
Not only does this one sound good, the can art is also very eye catching so all is shaping up to be a very promising experience…..fingers crossed!

1. Name : Hey, Mr. DJ!
2. Brewery: Dark Revolution (Salisbury, England)
3. Hops : Idaho 7 (Hot Side)
4. Grain : Barley & Wheat with blueberry & blackberry puree on the cold side of the brew
5. Aroma : Has a tarte berry nose with hints of clove and pepper that distinguishes this as being a Wit rather than a sour.
6. Appearance : Pours an appealing rose red colour with a two finger fluffy head that has a nice pink hue.
7. Body : Medium body with a pleasant mouthfeel
8. Taste : Instant flavour is of clove that is backed by peppery notes. This soon makes way for the tarte berry flavours that bounce around the palate before leaving a dry finish.
I purposely saved Hey, Mr. DJ! Until last of the Dark Revolution beers to be reviewed as it sounded the most interesting and it certainly proved just that. The beer looks good in the glass, has a very interesting nose and a flavour profile that is pretty unique.
If I am being honest, I would say that it is a brave move to throw blueberry and blackberry flavours into a wit beer and it just about works but, on the flipside, has perhaps too much going on to fully enjoy the experience.
Peppery notes and cloves I get but once the tarte berry hits the palate it just throws this one into too many directions and it had me sitting back thinking whether I was enjoying it or not. It is a very refreshing beer that I would try again in warmer months but on this occasion, I have to say that I am really on the fence, and for that reason it is not one that I would recommend, however I can certainly imagine that it will have it’s fans.
